About this Pet Tech® member:
I knew at an early age that I had a passion the welfare and health of animals. Caring for many, many cats and various other injured animals on my grandparents farm.
As an adult, my passion brought me to the pet grooming industry to make a living. In my time as a groomer, my love for animal care was never far away and led me to become certified in Pet CPR, First Aid & Care. This knowledge has more than a few times, led to saving the life of a furry friend in my care.
One such example, an older dog was in for a groom, who went into seizure. If not for my training, I would not have known what to do and this poor doggy would have been in serious danger. Springing into action, I took away all stimulation by dimming the lights.
I followed up with a snout-to-tail assessment to ensure that he was breathing and had a pulse, as well as assess if CPR and/or first aid was warranted. Luckily, he was ok and a vet visit confirmed as much. His pet parents were very grateful and inquired bout my training for themselves, should anything like this happen again.
This has led me to becoming a Pet Tech Instructor, where I bring my passion and knowledge to all pet parents, by teaching Pet CPR, First Aid & Care. Having the knowledge to take care of our furry family members when emergency situations occur is invaluable.
