About this Pet Tech® member:
I’ve been interested in CPR & First Aid for a long time. In June 1974 I became a Red Cross Water Safety & CPR Instructor. While studying at Mitchell Community College, I took all available First Aid courses in preparation for an EMT position. Priorities changed as I attended Western Carolina University.
The next stop was the United States Air Force (USAF) where I had the privilege of refining my C.P.R. and First Aid knowledge to another level. I became an Air Force certified instructor. Over the following 20+ years, I used my knowledge to prepare Air Force personnel for First Aid combat scenarios.
The transition from human to pet First Aid occurred in October 2014 while attending a pet sitters conference in Las Vegas. I was so impressed with the PetTech curriculum and teaching methods that I decided to attend an intensive three days of training in February 2015 to become a certified Pet Tech Instructor. The information is relevant, and it works! I believe it is far superior to have the First Aid training than to be witness to a life or death incident with a pet and have no idea of what to do.
