Hi everyone! My name is Emiley Parani. I have spent most of my life working in hospitality and customer service. The last five years I have been working for Orlando Health, in volunteer services, specifically my role is the coordinator of our corporate Pet Therapy volunteer program. I am a certified dog handler and enjoy bringing one of my favorite big boys, Denver, our 140lb Bernese Mountain dog through the hospitals and providing Pet Therapy to our team members and patients. My reason for being here today instructing this Pet Tech course is because I grew up an animal enthusiast. My passion as a child was to work with animals in any way I could. I managed to obtain that lifelong dream in providing an amazing service to those in our hospital system and the community of some unbiased, non-judgmental, good ole puppy loving. Knowing that when an individual is engaging with Denver for 5 – 12 minutes, reduces stress, and increases happy hormones. I grew up a pet owner, from anything between a fish to cats and dogs, yes if it crawled and was cute at one point in my life I probably owned or helped take care of it! However, looking back, I was an unconscious ignorant pet owner, it wasn’t until later in my life did, I learn the importance of knowing how to become an unconscious intelligent pet owner, accurately and responsibly. That included everything from raising to taking care of and obtaining the knowledge I needed to be prepared for anything that my pet could endure or need, especially in cases of emergency. If I knew then what I know now, I could have possibly saved some heart ache and a lot of money. My goal today is to teach you the knowledge and techniques you may need, to act quickly in providing CPR and first aid to your pets and hope to prevent any unnecessary emergency vet visits.
