I started Obedient K-9 to help educate dog owners on the best way to communicate with their fur-baibes. Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved everything about animals. As I got older it was clear to me that my life goal was to make a difference in the lives of animals anyway I could. In my early adult years, I started to become involved with rescue. I noticed most dogs who were being brought in had minor behavioral problems or lack of basic obedience. When rescuing my first dog, I discovered dog training was my passion and my life changed for the better. At the time I was working in a pet salon, though I loved it. It wasn’t my passion. I decided to start loads of research. Reading plenty of books by well known and well respected trainers, watching webinars, and enrolling in a training class with my dogs to observe other trainers. I then started working with my personal dogs more, and rescue pets to gain experience and practice my training skills. Soon after I was offered my first professional dog training job, though I was excited to finally start working with dogs in my own classes. I decided I didn’t want to stop there. When working under a company you have to follow their rules and guidelines. I wanted to help all the dogs I possibly could not just peoples new puppies and young adult dogs who needed to learn a few basics. I decided to do more with my studying gaining more certifications and hands on experience to better myself as a trainer. Dog training is my life and I spend a lot of my free time learning new techniques and practicing them with my own dogs to better the programs I offer. I will always push to learn more as if I think I know it all, I know nothing at all.
