I am a graduate of Robert Morris University with Bachelors in IT and Marketing and my student loans will be sent to my grave.
I got started dealing with pets after my younger brother was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 6 months to live. He actually made it 2 years and during this time it was very difficult conversations as to why this was happening to him, he wanted to be married, have kids and a career. After his 3rd brain surgery he was put into hospice care and that is when therapy dogs started visiting him. That is when his attitude changed. His conversations changed to Jen, this dog did this, I met this dog…. During his last brain surgery I took vacation time to be with him and received the call that I was being laid off.
This allowed me to understand the corporate world didn't care about me and these dogs visiting my brother gave him peace and allowed us as a family to have peace in his passing because of these dogs he was more focused on them rather than what was happening to him. It gave us peace.
So I decided to pay it forward and wanted to start caring for pets in his memory. I started working in kennels and daycares and learned what NOT to do and worked with my dogs to become therapy dogs and provide comfort to those that needed us. I started educating myself and working in kennels until I was approached in 2013 to purchase Comfort at Home Pet Services LLC and jumped at the opportunity and strive to provide education to pet owners and the public to hire professional pet sitters, pet health and safety and much more all in memory of my brother and those dogs that allowed him to pass peacefully. So joining the PetTech Team of Instructors was a no brainer since I have attended their classes several times and colleagues have told me with all my crazy experiences and knowledge, I just need to teach the classes.
