Pet Tech CPR Save in Grooming Shop

This video really shows how proper training allowed for quick action and a positive outcome! We contacted Lara for an update see follow-up questions below:

PT: So, how is Max?

Lara: He survived! When you see me pick him up and say “get my keys” it’s because when I went to pull his tongue out past the canines, he flinched. He started coming to after that and was totally awake in route.

PT: Is Max doing ok now…back to normal?

Lara: Yes, all normal, he was even happy to interact with me at the vet. In the future, only I will be grooming him just to be on the safe side.

PT: What did the Vet say?

Lara: It was my vet’s office, but not my normal vet who is very receptive and refers a ton of people to my shop. At first, the vet was seriously wondering WTF (from my standpoint.) Once my nice and positive vet arrived, she hugged me and we discussed a few customers’ dogs she has sent my way who can’t be groomed elsewhere.  I told her what happened, the first vet doing the exam became MUCH nicer and more positive 🙂

PT: What was the cause?

Lara: Vet did x-rays to check ribs after compressions, all looked normal except the trachea seemed abnormally small where it goes into the lungs. Vet thinks this was a contributing factor and underlying cause for his loss of consciousness.

PT: What did the Pet Parents say/ What was their reaction?

Lara: Their first question was “did he bite someone” as he’s been fired from every other groomer in town. They were totally fine, glad I knew what to do, even offered to pay for the work that had been done.

PT: Co-workers, what was their response?

Lara:  Elizabeth (groomer who was working on him,) was quite shook up, but I think she’s glad to work in a salon where being knowledgeable is appreciated, and that I didn’t get all pissed at her. We had just installed cameras the week before and upon review I can say 100% she did nothing wrong. I’m SO glad I had the cameras if only for me to be able to know what took place. I got the cameras mainly to protect the salon, but this showed another reason to have them.

We are all glad it was a happy ending.

This is an amazing video to watch.
